About the Artist

Emmy-Koos Meijer is an Amsterdam based illustrator. She grew up on an island with an interesting name (Goeree-Overflakkee), but not interesting enough to keep her there for long. In 2011 she graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam with a BA in Advertising. Drawing has always been second nature for her and people and the human body form her biggest inspirations.

Emmy-Koos offers creative services like graphic design, illustration, writing, image research, visualisation, and animation. So far, her clients include VICE, Eyeforce, Wildthings Collectables, Bedrock Magazine, Mindshakes Magazine, New Ams Film Company, Normaal Gesproken, A City Made By People Magazine, and The Morning.

Other than her pencils and brushes, she brings to the table five years of experience in conceptualising and producing story formats for brands. From writing and commissioning articles to producing short films and magazines for companies like citizenM, Spaces, and ADCN, the association for creativity in advertising and design in the Netherlands.

Her colourful yet minimalist art combines the imperfection of brush strokes with bold graphics. She zooms in on small moments and gestures, always with a playful and intimate vibe.
